With declining salmon stocks and growing climate change concerns, this program is vital in supporting and protecting the salmon that have been a cornerstone of the Heiltsuk diet and survival for thousands of years.
This program is dedicated to rebuilding vulnerable salmon stocks, supporting both food harvest opportunities and commercial fishing. Through our local hatchery at McLoughlin Bay River, we create habitats to enhance and sustain salmon populations.
Established 40 years ago, our hatchery is operated by trained Heiltsuk managers and technicians. Adrean Larsen, our current program manager, has been with us for 18 years. The success of this program is due to the expertise and dedication of our local team.
The Urban Heiltsuk Support Team offers support services to Heiltsuk citizens living in the Greater Vancouver area, away from our traditional homelands.

At the community level, we are developing a young ladies' program focused on education and professional development, in collaboration with the school.
Our program is broad and diverse, working with families, youth, adults, and community members in general. We aim to provide assistance, support, and advocacy for people facing everyday struggles, the criminal justice system, family, and provincial courts, as well as education.
