As Haíɫzaqv people, our way of life is deeply affected by climate change. In March 2022, the Haíɫzaqv Climate Action Team celebrated the completion of the community-led Haíɫzaqv Community Energy Plan. It is an example of how local governments can find local solutions to the climate crisis. This plan marks a significant step in our transition away from diesel, essential for protecting our homelands and waterways for future generations.

The Pathway to Jurisdiction is the first Haíłzaqv process that includes research and community engagement to draft new Gvi’I’las (laws) for the care, protection, and well-being of our children and families. It will include our Haíłzaqv values, customs, language, and strategies to support Káxḷá Child and Family Services.
Following the establishment of our Gvi’I’las, Káxḷá Child and Family Services will assume total control of our child welfare with a team of skilled and qualified members to ensure our children and families are protected, strengthened and supported towards health and wellness.
